Workshop FAQs

Stacy is RRP-certified in lead-safe practices from the State of New York and we will be using many of the same lead-safe practices you would want to use on your windows at home. All participants will be required to sign a lead and asbestos liability waiver, wear a p100 mask with 2097 filters, and follow lead-safe guidelines.

Participants are responsible for their own lodging. East Aurora has a Hampton Inn* and the Roycroft Inn. However, there are plenty of options available within a 20-25 minute drive of East Aurora.

The closest towns are Elma, Orchard Park, West Seneca, Hamburg, and Buffalo.

*The Hampton Inn in East Aurora is a short walk from the workshop.

Our meals will be provided and will consist of a light breakfast, box lunch, and snacks throughout the day. Once we have the exact menu, we will share that information. If you have any dietary needs that you have not already indicated in ticketing please do so as soon as possible. Evening meals are on your own. There are many restaurant options in East Aurora.

Yes, please make sure you arrive with:

Check-in will occur at Blake Hill House (address to follow) between 4:30 and 5:30 PM. The Workshop will officially kick off at 5:30 PM so please make every attempt to check in by then. Please bring your ticket receipt and review the required lead and photo waiver ahead of time.

The EPA’s Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) guidelines recommend wearing disposable coveralls, a painter’s hat, shoe covers, a certified respirator, eye protection, and gloves to minimize exposure to lead dust. However, you may choose what is most appropriate for yourself.* Many participants choose to wear clean work clothes each day and transport used clothes home in a sealed plastic bag.

Closed-toed shoes are required and should also return home in a plastic bag.

Please note that a P-100 respirator with a 2097 filter, eye protection, and work gloves are required. Have a look at our photos to see what participants typically wear.

*The weather might be cool in the morning and hot and humid in the afternoons, so bring clothing for all temperatures.

The excursion is optional, but we highly recommend it because it is a casual opportunity to hang out with the group and get to know each other better. Brad is still working on setting up the actual event, but it will likely include some easy walking in historic East Aurora.
At the end of the weekend, you will have learned to fully restore a wood window and receive a brief tutorial on painting your finished product. Since painting time is limited, we offer the free painting/skills workshop for a half day on Monday. It’s a chance to hone your painting skills or practice anything else you learned, all in service to the windows of Epworth Hall. We use the time to paint sash and finish up any lingering glazing on the workshop windows. It’s a casual, fun way to wrap up the weekend. Breakfast is provided.
Refunds are considered on a case by case basis and can not be offered if your seat(s) can not be backfilled. Please make any and all refund requests before June 1, 2026.
