Personal Day #3

Every day of this week, I woke up in “full throttle” mode. Some of you may understand what I mean. It is that feeling you get when you pop out of bed already filled with stress and some anxiety about the day ahead. It is all related to the kitchen remodel which is going swimmingly, but good stress is still stress. Being more type-B than type-A, I do not generally live my life feeling like this on a regular basis, but when I reach this point, it is somewhat critical, and I get very frustrated with myself when I cannot get it together over good stress. We have lived through some very dark days, but we are definitely not there right now. This is the good stuff. As I get older, I get better at letting the feelings come and go, but old habits are hard to break.

Here are a few things that I wanted to share with you this week.

1. Running Shoe Centerpiece – This is the adorable centerpiece from my running friends’ wedding last weekend.

Andy and I have a long-standing joke about doing things with “your next wife/husband.” IE: Maybe you can go on a cruise ship vacation with your next wife OR Maybe your next husband won’t have to travel so much for work. Our joke of the weekend changed to, “Maybe at your next wedding.” I told Andy that I thought the centerpiece was so cute, and he answered, “Maybe you can have one at your next wedding.” The secret to our successful marriage might be laughter which we do often, as long as he isn’t traveling for work, of course.

2. The Bedroom – We have not even touched this room yet, but it is perfectly liveable. Sunlight streams in here all day, and it is the most relaxing room in the house. My mom went to Ireland this week, and it reminded me that Andy and I bought a beautiful orange wool blanket in Ireland when we were there in October. Ever practical, I had tucked it away to use after we had painted and decorated our bedroom which incidentally, has not even made it onto the master list yet. Yesterday, I pulled out the blanket and put it on the end of the bed to enjoy now. I need to stop waiting to be done with BHH before I live in it. This is not the first time I have written about this subject. Oh, those old habits…

3. Bloggy Stuff

Upcycled Denim Bunting – Perfect for 4th of July. I am not typically into crafts because they mock me when I don’t finish them. However, this project really caught my eye. If I was going to finish a craft project, this would be it.

All about red salvia in your perennial garden – Salvia is quickly becoming one of my favorite garden flowers here in WNY. It thrives in our humid climate.

Horse carriage bench seat makeover – I honestly did not know where Robin was going with this project when I started reading, but it turned out beautifully.

Frugalwoods Financial Independence and Simple Living – This is hands down my favorite blog about frugal life and financial independence. I have been reading it for about nine months. They’ve just moved to their new home in Vermont, and they are quite generous with pictures of their adorable baby and adopted greyhound dog.

Have a great weekend!
