True Tales From Old Houses: Season Five

I am actually a few episodes into season five already. Now that I am back to hosting the show solo, my goal has been to bridge the content gap between this blog and the podcast. Clearly, that is going well since the first episode of season five published on February 1st, and I am just now getting around to telling you about it.

One of the most notable changes aside from the lack of my co-host Devyn (Miss you, Devyn!) is the new website. The new site is a very simple, fast-loading design. You can listen to each show there, but I encourage you to subscribe to True Tales From Old Houses wherever you listen to podcasts. That way, the latest episode will always be waiting for you on your phone or tablet.

Getting Started

If you have not listened to the show, but you love old houses and DIY, I invite you to give one of these episodes a shot.

Episode #46: Laine and Kevin Berry: Our Restoration Nation

Summary: In this first episode of Season five, Stacy is flying solo. Feeling lonely, she invites a past podcast guest to join her for listener Q&A.

Later, she talks to Laine and Kevin Berry of Our Restoration Nation about their preservation projects and life post-Louise, the Big Little House in Louisville, Georgia.

Note: Sadly, the house dubbed Louise caught fire, and she was a total loss.

Episode #47: Lindsay Jones: Blind Eye Restoration

Summary: In this episode, Stacy and Ashley from The Gold Hive discuss oddball additions to historic structures.

Later, Stacy welcomes Lindsay Jones from Blind Eye Restoration, a woman-owned architectural conservation company in Columbus, Ohio. Lindsay shares about preservation from a construction perspective.

Episode #48: On Location at The Tool Library, Buffalo, New York

Summary: In this episode, Stacy and Bill from Enon Hall discuss momentum and maintaining enthusiasm for long-term projects.

Later, Stacy is on location at The Tool Library in Buffalo, New York. The city of Buffalo is comprised of around 90% old house inventory. Guests Darren and Maddie explain The Tool Library’s origins and how the sharing economy benefits renters, homeowners, and communities.

Episode #49: Paint Talk With Scott From The Craftsman Blog

Summary: In this episode, Stacy welcomes back long-time friend of the show, Scott Sidler, from The Craftsman Blog. Stacy and Scott discuss the high-quality formulas hidden behind the paint store counter and best practices for a beautiful, long-lasting finish. Scott wraps up the show with info about his new self-paced window restoration course for DIYers.

Stacy and Lindsay from Blind Eye Restoration also discuss their favorite modern products compatible with old house projects.

Let me know if you have any questions, and thank you for listening to True Tales From Old Houses.
